Hautefort and St Agnan are located 40 km North East of Perigueux in the picturesque Auvezerre valley. Hautefort is a pretty hill top village which is dominated by one of the premier Chateau in the Dordogne. A former medieval castle it was the birth place of Bertrand de Born the famous troubadour. The present day chateau is surrounded by a beautiful 40 hectare park with a renowned formal flower garden. The village is also home to a museum of medicine. St Agnan is also a picturesque village and stages a number of fetes and night markets during the summer season. Within the immediate surrounding area is the ‘Etang de Coucou’ a lake which offers good fishing. Quad Biking, canoeing and horse riding are also within easy reach.
