Canoeing on the Dordogne, Vezere and Auvezere rivers

Your canoe slowly drifts passed Beynac, La Roque-Gageac and the other villages and towns dotted along the Dordogne, Vezere and Auvezere rivers, seeing quiet sections of the river that can not be seen in any other way. Perfectly suitable for children, the canoes only cost a few euros to hire.

You can picnic on the banks of the Dordogne, perhaps in a place suitable for paddling and swimming.

The canoes are hired from one of several hire companies that operate along the Dordogne,  Vezere and Auvezere rivers,  along with life-jackets and a large plastic tub to keep your picnic and camera dry. The canoe companies drive you upstream in a minibus and you canoe back downstream, or you canoe downstream from the start point and a minibus is waiting to bring you back. Either way, you only ever canoe with the flow of the river! You can also choose the length of your trip - generally half a day or a whole day.

There are several of these canoe hire companies  the local tourist office will be able to tell you which operate in the part of the river closest to you. Unmissable!
